What is light therapy?

Bright light therapy involves daily exposure to intense doses of white light in order to regulate seasonal mood swings, improve sleeping patterns, and produce a general sense of well-being in pets. According to medical researchers, bright light therapy systems with fluorescent light tubes is the preferred device for bright light therapy, with a recommended starting dose of 10,000 LUX for 30 minutes per day. (LUX is the unit of measuring the illumination intensity of light.)

How does light therapy work?

Bright light therapy systems work because they help increase the level of the serotonin (a neurotransmitter that positively affects moods) which would otherwise decrease in the fall and winter.  Learn more here >>

How does my pet use the Sol Box?

Sunlight is very important to cats and dogs.  That is why you will often see them seeking beams of sunlight throughout the house and comfortably planting themselves there for extended periods of time.  The same goes for the Sol Box, most pets will naturally gravitate toward the light when it is on.  However some may need a bit of encouragement to get used to the idea.

What is the return policy?

First and foremost we are looking to increase the health of pets worldwide.  We want as many pets as possible to try our lights and therefore want to eliminate risk.  We understand that some pets simply won't take to the light and often prefer shadows.  That's why we offer a 30 day, no questions asked refund policy.  Try it out for 30 days, and if your cat or dog (or even you!) is not completely in love with the lamp, simply return it for a full refund.

What does 10,000 lux mean?

Lux is a measure of how bright a light is.  Research has shown that for bright light therapy to be effective it must have a measure of at least 10,000 lux.  In other words it takes about 10,000 lux for your pets body to register the light just as it would natural sunlight.  This is what makes light therapy boxes much more expensive than a typical light.

Does it put out UV light?

No.  The Sol Box is outfitted with a UV filter to prevent any UV rays from reaching your pet.

Have you seen the light?

Yes.  And let me be the first to tell you, it is amazing.
